Overview

This 9-day itinerary is crafted for those who want to fully immerse themselves in Tanzania’s most iconic safari destinations. From the elephant-studded landscapes of Tarangire to the vast Serengeti—both its central plains and northern wilderness—this journey offers endless opportunities for wildlife encounters, including the Great Migration (seasonal). Add in the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater and the lush beauty of Lake Manyara, and you’ll experience the very best of Tanzania’s safari magic in one extended adventure.

Day 1: Arrival - Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where our safari team will warmly welcome you. You’ll transfer to Pazuri Inn in Arusha, where you can relax after your flight or explore the local surroundings before your safari begins.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Overnight at Eileen’s Lodge

Your safari adventure begins with a drive to Tarangire National Park, famed for its giant baobab trees and massive elephant herds. The park is alive with diverse wildlife including lions, giraffes, and over 500 bird species. As you explore the varied landscapes, you’ll enjoy your first game drive before settling in at Eileen’s Lodge, a cozy retreat near Karatu.

Day 3: Serengeti (Central) – Overnight at Kontiki Camp

After breakfast, journey into the heart of the Central Serengeti, renowned for its vast savannahs, granite kopjes, and abundance of predators. Game drives here offer chances to spot lions lounging on rocks, cheetahs scanning the plains, and elephants moving gracefully through the grasslands. You’ll overnight at Kontiki Camp, blending comfort with the wilderness.

Day 4: Serengeti (North) – Overnight at Kontiki Camp

Head further north into the Northern Serengeti, a remote and wild corner of the park. If traveling during migration season (July–October), you may witness the dramatic Mara River crossings, where wildebeests and zebras face crocodiles and predators in one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Overnight again at Kontiki Camp, close to the action.

Day 5: Serengeti (North) – Overnight at Kontiki Camp

Spend another full day exploring the Northern Serengeti. Here, wildlife is plentiful year-round, from elephants and giraffes to lions and leopards. This extra day ensures you don’t miss the raw drama of predator-prey interactions or the beauty of the untouched landscapes.

Day 6: Serengeti (Central) – Overnight at Kontiki Camp

Return to the Central Serengeti for another perspective of this world-famous park. Known as the “endless plains,” it offers breathtaking views and thriving wildlife populations. The Central Serengeti is especially rich in predators, making it an excellent spot to witness big cat activity. Overnight at Kontiki Camp.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater – Overnight at Eileen’s Lodge

Today you’ll descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, often called Africa’s Garden of Eden. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts an incredible density of wildlife, including the Big Five. The crater floor is dotted with soda lakes, forests, and open grasslands, making it a unique safari setting. Return to Eileen’s Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Lake Manyara National Park – Overnight at Pazuri Inn

Explore the scenic Lake Manyara National Park, home to tree-climbing lions, large hippo pools, flocks of flamingos, and lush groundwater forests. The park is small but incredibly diverse, offering a different safari experience. After your game drive, head back to Pazuri Inn in Arusha for a restful evening.

Day 9: Return to JRO – Departure

After breakfast, transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure. This marks the end of your Extended Safari Experience, filled with unforgettable landscapes, thrilling wildlife encounters, and timeless memories of Tanzania.
